Position: Remote Part-Time Lead Bookkeeper

We're growing and need your help to make our team even better for our clients!  This role begins as a part-time subcontracting position, but with the right fit, will quickly evolve into a long-term employee position.

Are you looking for a flexible position with a small team of hard workers who are enthusiastic about helping others?  Do you like the idea of doing the "bookkeeping work" without the hassle of owning your own business, making sales calls, creating marketing content, or dealing with client interaction?  If so, your attention to detail, professionalism, ease and willingness to be accountable and proactive will ensure your success in this role. 
If you love to flex your skills for turning a set of messy books into a masterpiece of beautifully organized and accurate books by digging into the work without having discussions with the client, then you'll enjoy the fact that this role is completely behind the scenes and does not include any client-facing communication.  If you like creating detailed processes and instructing others with encouragement and kindness, you'll be perfect for guiding our bookkeepers on ways to improve and be successful with their work.  Oversight and precision are your strengths.  Reviewing the books and ensuring quality control at month-end is your jam!  You thrive on preventing problems by being meticulous and driven, yet enjoy helping others find solutions in a considerate manner. 
We specifically serve business owners in the Lawn Care and Landscaping industry, so having any experience working in this field will benefit you greatly.  Having an understanding of job costing and industry-specific software like Jobber and Yardbook is beneficial as well.  Ideal candidates have past experience working professionally in a remote setting, a computer with a secure, high-speed internet connection, and a webcam (can be internal to your laptop - does not have to be external).

RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE:

General Responsibilities:
  • Check Slack, Asana, Keeper & email regularly
  • Complete bookkeeping assignments on time, accurately, and efficiently 
  • Timely communication and respectful interactions with BFL team members​
  • Accountability to internal processes and procedures
Lead Bookkeeper Responsibilities:
  • Completing new client QBO setup 
  • Account cleanup/catch-up projects
  • Develop clear workflows and SOPs to train and support bookkeepers on client accounts
  • Assign Asana tasks in an understandable and easy-to-follow order
  • Create Loom training videos for specific client account instructions 
  • Communicate with team members regarding questions or concerns with a client's account
  • Review bookkeepers' work for accuracy and procedure compliance (QC), including feedback to bookkeepers
  • Supporting company growth and capacity by handling regular bookkeeping client work as needed and assigned
  • Assisting in the year-end close review process

REQUIREMENTS:

Required:
  • 2 years (minimum) related bookkeeping experience
  • QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor Certification
  • Bookkeeper Launch Certification
  • Professional experience with remote/virtual work environment
  • Strong sense of urgency/deadline & priority drive
  • Respectful interactions with BFL team members
  • Excellent communication - written and verbal
  • Based in the USA
  • Must carry insurance
Preferred:
  • Experience with Keeper & Asana
  • Knowledge of third-party payment processors (Jobber, Yardbook, LMN, etc)
  • Familiarity with job costing
  • 1-3 Professional References

THE DETAILS:

Position Details:
  • Remote, Part-Time contractor position (with the intention of becoming a W2 position)
  • Flexible schedule
  • $25-$28/Hr, based on experience​
  • Continuing Education training/courses available and encouraged
  • Reports to the CEO/Founder
  • We are a 100% virtual team, no in-person meetings will be required. 
  • We do not expect you to live, eat and breathe Bookkeepers For Landscapers -  rather we want you to come in, be efficient, and move on with your day
  • We want someone who wants to invest in a business and really be part of a growing team and an integral part of the process
